Living Green

There’s this awesome ‘movement’ (if I can call it that) in the blog-o-sphere which was started by Lara from ready2spark. Its called the Green Challenge. Basically you need to answer the following question: What are you doing to introduce environmental sustainability into your daily life? but before you can answer this question, you must be tagged by a fellow blogger.

I am so happy to say that I’ve been tagged by Lisa of Blushalicious. First off, I would like to say thank you. I started my wedding blog, a little over 2 months ago and I have met so many new people. The fact that I have been tagged is an honor and hope that Glamour This! will continue to grow. Ok enough about that… here are my ways of living green:
1- I have purchased re-usable grocery bags, and even though I sometimes forget them in my car, I try to use them as often as possible. The use of less plastic bags is an environmental plus, and I hope that eventually these oh-so bad for the environmental bags will disappear completely… oh and if it isn’t the case, then why not find a way to make them biodegradable.
2-I also do my share of recycling. In my area, we are extremely lucky to have these huge containers which promote recycling. I rinse all my containers before putting them in the bin. I even do research on what can be recycled. Did you know that just in Quebec (where I live almost 8 million people) 2 water bottles out of 10 are recycled! That a whole lot of plastic in that trash which can be recycled. Did you know that you can recycle the following: water bottles, toasters, frying pans, even lawn mowers (after removing the hazardous parts)… (this all depending on your recylcing center : please ask questions) and if in doubt, put it in the recycling! (people are paid to sort)
3- Like many of yous, I use energy saver light bulbs. These make a huge difference and save tonnes and tonnes of energy thus better for the environment. I am saving money to purchase new appliances… because I do not know how long the ones I have will last. But on a good note I am planning on purchasing energy star appliances. Excellent choice I think!
This is just the beginning. What do you do??? I pass the question on to:
Emily from Eco-Chic Weddings, Kim from The Blog Essentials, Jenn from the Hostess Blog, Brittney from Dolce Design, and Luvena from Style Fragments
