Perfume : bottle or scent?

I’ve been shopping around in hopes to find a great new eau de parfum. The search started actually last weekend when I was in NYC… but no luck.

I’ve had a history of switching perfumes once a bottle is finished, but lately I’ve been wearing Turquatic of M.A.C. I think this happens to be my 4th bottle (they are teeny tiny) and now I’m ready to switch.

This is my perfume history:
Cool Water by Davidoff
Aqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani
Angel by Thierry Mugler
Sentiment by Escada
Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka
Turquatic by M.A.C

As you can see, I’m a sweet scent type of girl… I stay miles away from anything spicy or too floral. That stuff makes me nauseous. eeeek. Well with the help of a really nice salesperson … we finally found 2 perfumes that I actually enjoy the smell from the bottle and even when its on me.

Viva la Juicy by Juicy Couture  &   Black XS by Paco Rabanne

ScentStation

Now, both smell really nice (hubby approved) but he is leaning more towards the Black XS sent. I’m still not sure…cuz i know this may sound weird, but the bottle isn’t as pretty as Viva la Juicy.

Am I the only crazy one? Have you chosen a perfume based on the packaging?
Does the packaging affect your overall impression on the product. Does it make it feel like its more of a high end, more expensive product?

Whats your take on the subject?

Are you a Queen Bee?

Ever since I’ve become a Bee (Mrs.Flamingo) on Weddingbee, I’ve been in love with anything bee related and it simply added to my already existing love of honey. I eat honey with practically anything… almost. So When I received an email with The Buzz about Naked Honey… I was excited! I know I’m funny.

Glamnuptials: Day after shoot

Having the opportunity to do a Day After Shoot is amazing. Now only do you have the chance to get dolled up again, but you can really take the time to pose for pictures since on the wedding day, time isn’t your best friend. On our wedding day, we got some great pictures, but not the kind of pictures I was hoping for.

I wanted something different and unique, and luckily my friend (newbie photog) knew exactly what I wanted. So in a matter of an hour and a half we went from the gas station, to the corn field, to the railroad track and more. I am really really happy with the outcome of our pictures. (Plus, I got to wear my beautiful birdcage veil – that I had forgotten at home the day of the wedding).

The morning of the shoot, I actually went to the hairdresser to get my hair done. Unfortunately I did the after wedding chop, so my hair was much shorter than at the wedding and I couldn’t have the same vintage hairstyle (snif! snif!) I did my own makeup like it was done on my wedding day. It wasn’t very complicated to do – except maybe putting on the fake lashes. ;) First stop – the gas station. Now this wasn’t a fake pose - we really needed to put gas in the car otherwise we wouldn’t go very far. I must admit though, they are pretty cool pictures.

A few minutes from the gas station, there was a huge corn field. Being corn season, it seemed perfect for wedding pictures. We asked the owners if we could borrow their field for a couple of minutes, and I guess seeing a bride and groom always results in an automatic yes!

Since it had rained a couple of days before the shoot, the ground was quite muddy… so ya, I had a fun time cleaning my shoes afterwards… (note to self : wear runners when taking pics in a field)

Once the shoe cleaning was complete, we hopped in the car and went to the nearest train track, which was literally 2 minutes away. We had fun on the tracks, and cars would pass by and honk… oh weddings!

I love this picture of Marc-André holding my shoes as I walk down the line (the track line that is). But might I add that it was extremely hot for my feet!

I love this picture – à la Clark Kent (Superman).

Next up, we took some pictures in a vast grass field. Marc was the one who found the place. It was very beautiful and just across the street of the field, there was a beautiful stone fence, where we took some more shots. (Can’t get enough)

Once we were done and returned to our friend’s place, she wanted to take some more pictures of me in my dress. We experimented with different light sources to create unique shots…

I had a blast taking pictures and if I could do it again I would! Hmmm… winter wedding shots… But my hubby would kill me – he is so not a picture person. )

Did you have an Day After Shoot? Were you happy with the results?

Glamnuptials: Details

For those of you who have followed my wedding on weddingbee I apologize for the re-posting. But since many of my readers voiced that they would love to see my wedding pics… I can’t say no to that…can I? ;)

I love detail shots and since I worked hard DIYing some elements of my wedding attire, I wanted to make sure I had pictures to remember forever all the hard work and crazy hours I spent. I absolutely adore these pictures of my wedding dress – it’s simply stunning. How I wish I could wear it all day long. Seriously…

My beautiful wedding dress

Detailing of the bodice

I loved all my bling. It was very glamorous and representative of our overall theme. I literally felt like a million dollars wearing my jewelry.

My oh-so glamorous necklace

Our beautiful rings

DIY Swarovski Brooch which I absolutely love

My awesome taupe shoes with my vintage embellishment

My beautiful bouquet with DIY bouquet jewels

These details were for my husband-to-be and his first love – Superman. I wanted to have something extra special for him and my DIY Superman Garter definitely caught everyone’s attention. His cufflinks were perfect and cute, I must admit.

Hairstyles for a princess

Your wedding hairstyle can be the finish touch to your wedding attire. Whether or not you are opting for a veil or not, you have to treat your hairstyle as if you would your wedding dress… with lots of consideration. Low style buns are very popular, because they can be very glamorous and at the same time not too overpowering.

Lazy Makeup

I know not everyone is makeup savy, but I personally believe that everyone deserves to look hot :D I came across Color-On Pro to summarize it – basically its makeup for the Lazy- lol. It’s quite an interesting concept, though I can’t say if it works well (or the results are like the images shown)

Images courtesy of: Color-On Pro

With over 15 colors to choose from, you can create your own personalize kit. Simply choose the style you like best and voila! The makeup artist in you is now at work

One applicator does both eyes! If you rub your applicator softly the transfer will create a light/soft look. Rub it with a little more pressure to get a very dramatic look. Every kit contains setting powder and a brush to apply it. Various options available. Prices vary between 18-30$.

Has anyone ever tried this product? What did you think about it?
