While I was shopping over the weekend, I happened to find the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. With my wedding being officially over…. I felt sad. The after wedding nostalgia kicked in. I literally stayed at the magazine counter holder the magazine for a good 5 mintues, debating whether I should buy it or not. Well I didn’t and in a way, its like a way of turning the page. Kinda.
Luckily, I still have acess to all the great Martha things through her regulary updated website and this idea, which of course is from her latest issue of MS Weddings, is one that I needed to share. What’s better than having downloable templates. I know I will be saving a copy of each on my computer
Why save the traditional Just Married sign for your car-aided exit? Hang it up at your reception and you’ll get more time to enjoy its message. Better yet, spell out your sentiments letter-by-letter using our alphabet template.
Each character is encircled by a different border, a whimsical take on the old-fashioned look of vintage typewriter keys. Print the 3-inch-diameter designs on standard paper and cut or punch them out; make two small slits near the top, just inside the decorative border, and weave a 1/4-inch ribbon through. For streamers, ribbons are a more polished alternative to crepe paper; the pre-pleated ribbon used to make these swags comes in various widths.
Summer is here and the wedding season (well the peak season that is) has officially started. Because of the hot weather, why not offer your guests homemade refreshments as favors. I’m pretty sure they will love the thought and its something thats inexpensive to do. At the Wedding Style Guide, you can download templates to make labels which will make your drinks even more personal.
This idea is from their first issue. You have the choice of three colors: Pink, Orange or Yellow
Even grown men melt at the idea of rustic life with its home baked kindness, garden grown generosity, hand sewn simplicity and pure charm, so turn those warm feelings into a theme.
Lemon Cordial Make a simple sugar syrup by bringing equal quantities of water and white sugar to a gentle simmer until all sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool. Mix 750ml of sugar syrup with 250ml of fresh lemon juice and pour into clean, dry bottles and seal. When ready to serve, fill each chilled glass with 1/3 cordial and 2/3 mineral water, together with plenty of ice and a hint of fresh mint.
Always in search of great gift ideas, I came across Letter Your Legacy thanks to the Handcrafted Blog. Being an art lover I specifially love photography. There is just something so special about it and even more so when its done in an interesting manner. Letter Your Legacy is a company that makes unique framed photographic word art.
I thought this was a great gift to give to newleyweds…. now only does it highlight your new name, but what a great piece to put in your first home. You can even customize your own name and choose what type of imagery you would like to have for each letter.
Even though here in Quebec we don’t change our names after were married (it actually costs us money to do so) I thought it would be a great piece to have for our future family. Maybe on top of my future fireplace..
When you are having a big wedding, or party and you have endless amounts of guests, it can be hard to remember everyones name, especially if your a guest. With this idea from Martha, problem solved and being creative about it, is even cuter.
These buttons-cum-seating cards can also serve to introduce guests to one another. Calligraph names on paper, then follow directions included with a button-making machine. Pin buttons to 2-by-3-inch card stock with numbers written on the bottom.
How I came about to finding this song is interesting. I’ve always been in love with 8mm and 16mm wedding videography, and in one of the movie samples I was watching I came across this beautiful song.
I then googled the lyrics to find what that song was. I absolutely wanted to use it for my own wedding video. Finally the search finally ended - I found it… Gavin Degraw’s song called Meaning,
Having organized cards to provide the bridesmaid with all the necessary information is a great way to avoid complications in the end. I’m lucky enough to have my sisters and cousin as my bridesmaid (they already knew all the details - and how to contact each other so it was easy) But I thought these little cards were not only cute but could come in very handy.
How not to be a bridezilla? Pick something your bridesmaids really can wear again, then list the details on a handy card. Download our template, type in contact info, and print onto card stock. Write in other details, and add fabric swatches and images. Use a rotary cutter with a perforating blade to create a tear-off card that can be tucked into a wallet for easy reference.
Happy Friday everyone! If you have a love affair with vintage magazines and all the photography of old Hollywood, I would suggest you take a look at Condé Nast for some great eye candy. I found this image and its my Friday inspiration.
If you looking for a dramatic and unique centerpiece idea, going the taper route is definitely an option which will create that WOW look you’ve been wanting. Though not all venue allow for open flame candles (check with your coordinator) if yours happens to be nice enough to let you - I say go for it (as long as their aren’t children around) Cuz the outcome is stunning…
Here’s a centerpiece idea that won’t have you burning through your budget: In lieu of pricey floral arrangements, display sleek tapers in a variety of shapely glass candlesticks. Inexpensive ones are available at many home decor stores in lots of styles (most of ours are from CB2 and Areo). Mix them in varying heights and designs to create a table that truly shines.

Bad blogger that I am, I completely forgot to post an eco-friendly post for earth day (April 22nd) but its never too late - right? I thought this was a good way to save the earth one envelope at a time.
For your thank you cards, whether its after a bridal shower or to thank your the guests who attended your wedding, why not opt for postcards instead. Forget the folded thank you card - thats old school and by not having the envelope not only does it cost less its also eco-friendly… if you want to go even further make sure to use recycled paper Happy earth day/week… sorry about my lateness… lol
For a cute twist on personalized thank-you notes, send gift-givers postcards of you and your groom wearing clothing emblazoned with messages. Use 3-inch-high stick-on vinyl lettering, peel off the backing, and affix the letters to plain shirts. Ask a friend to take digital pictures, then upload your favorite to a computer and print onto photo paper. We ran the photos through a Xyron sticker machine, which adds an adhesive backing. Attach each photo to a blank size-A6 postcard, and voila! — picture-perfect stationery.
